We would like to introduce our Mental Health & Wellbeing Ambassadors. They are here to help and support you on your journey.
My name is Rebecca (otherwise known as Bex) and I am a personal trainer / online coach at McKenzie Fitness, Glasgow. I started this as my own business at the start of the 1st Lockdown in March of 2020, registering officially in June of 2020.
I am currently 21 years old, I have been diagnosed with various mental health illnesses, including Social Anxiety (even though it might not seem like it with owning a business!), as well as being in recovery from Bulimia for just over 2 years that I suffered with since I was 16 years old.
I never had the support that I needed growing up, but I knew that I wasn’t going to tackle what was happening to me alone. I knew I needed help. I thank that 16-year old girl for making one of the best and smartest decisions of my life: I called mental health services. Still to this day I use them, and I knew that I had to be that service and that support to my clients in my business and others around me.
I am absolutely honoured to be part of the Mental Health Ambassador team for Y.E.N. I also run the social media Instagram and Twitter page for Y.E.N which is also a huge privilege for me.
I am so excited to meet all of you!
My Interests:
I’m Isabel, the founder and mental health practitioner at Moving Minds Mental health Clinic. I studied Psychology and Sport Studies at University before completing a research master’s in neuroscience.
I’ve always really enjoyed sports and had a keen interest in psychology at high school so decided to continue to pursue it at University. After leaving University I found myself in healthcare and support roles where I really enjoyed working with people but was frustrated that I was unable to help and support people as much as I wanted to, and I believed that I could be doing more but my roles were limited. After some time at a private mental health company providing a breakthrough treatment, rTMS, 1:1 support and managing a franchise of clinics across the UK, I made the decision to set-up my own clinic – Moving Minds.
At Moving Minds, I provide rTMS treatment and integrated therapies for those in need of mental health support. Independently, I also provide consulting services to independent rTMS clinics across the UK.
I have been providing Mental Health services with Moving Minds since November 2020.
Having myself overcome my own mental health struggles and witnessed many of my friends battle with their mental health over the years, it is something I have been acutely aware of and always wanted to help people with. I hope that now and for years to come I will have a positive impact on many people’s lives.
What being mental health ambassador means to me at YEN
I am proud to be a Mental Health Ambassador at Y.E.N and am committed to providing the right support to those who need it, whether it be a friendly chat, more in-depth support or simply to signpost and provide relevant resources and tips. I think it’s so important that people feel supported and realise that they are not alone. I hope that as a mental health ambassador at Y.E.N, I can help to contribute to the talented and inspiring community of that John is building here.
